Mr. Staikos Giorgos, the iniciator of the First European 3D two storages house of Europe, was invited by the project @Greenland to come to Greece to be the key note speaker during the Jobschadowing, which took place at Panorama hotel in Thessaloniki.
During our first Interview on 29/10/20
Mr. Staiko, good evening! And thank you very much for accepting our invitation. How do you feel; I would like you to describe to us initially, your feelings, as the initiator of the whole venture, joy, pride, emotion perhaps?
Good evening Mr. Kyropoulos and I am very happy that finally, I can officially talk about the first pilot house, which is created by a 3D printer and is being built in the city where I live, Beckum in Rhineland-Westphalia. I certainly feel great and special joy, but also a creative concern for the development of this grandiose, but not impossible, as you saw, pilot project.
Do you believe that the new building technology that you propose will be the beginning of a new era in the construction industry that will redefine and bring new data to both design and construction?
Yesterday, 29/10/20, the Minister of Infrastructure of Rhineland-Westphalia-NRW, Ina Scharrenbach, visited us at the construction site of the first 3D two-story house, 160 m2, which is expected to be occupied in March 2021. I want to answer the question you with the following phrases: “The future is already here”, “The house of the future is digital, but ready at any time to print”!
How do you feel about this achievement? You are the initiator of the first pilot 3D printed two-story house in Europe. There are buildings constructed using similar techniques in Belgium, as far as the EU is concerned, and in the US. but none have been built with the latest breakthrough manufacturing technology of this particular 3D printer and an area of 160 m2! Do you think that, both in terms of cost and time, it will be a more practical process that can be applied in the future, on a wider scale?
I feel particularly lucky, although I don’t believe in luck. As the great soldier, Alexander the Great, once answered when asked: What is luck? Luck is when the effort meets the opportunity”, I answer the same. Nothing was a matter of luck, but of hard work, persistence, work, zeal and determination. Mr. Kyropoulos, since I was a child I remember myself having a different perspective on things. I was never touched by the obvious, but by the special and the innovative. From March 2021 the pilot 3D house will prove to be a pioneer and driving force of business and applied innovation, not only for Germany, but for the entire EU. and globally! Cost-wise, it is an advantageous alternative proposal for acquiring a residence. In terms of time, much less time is required for the realization of such a house.
