Athens, 11 December 2020
The launching event of the European project “GREENLAND – GREEN-skiLls for a sustAiNable Development” will take place on 16 & 17 December 2020 online. Important actors from around the Mediterranean coming from local and regional administration, academia, NGOs, SMEs and the civil society will participate in the event, be informed about project activities and exchange views.
The project has a total budget of € 3.9 million and is funded by the EU under the ENI CBC Med Programme by 90% (€ 3.5 million), while it has a 30-months duration. GREENLAND partnership embraces Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Italy and Portugal.
The Mediterranean area suffers from extremely high rates of youth/female unemployment levels and climate change. If we are to make a sea change in the way our society produces, it will need skilled workers to push it through. GREENLAND sets out a series of incisive training actions for NEETS (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and women within the Green and Circular Economy, with long-lasting, policy-relevant innovations.
GREENLAND ensures that key public and private organizations are actively involved and creates the opportunities and skills for policy innovation to take place. The GREENLAND outputs include among others labour market analysis to identify and implement:
- 1 e-Learning Platform involving 2,900 NEETs and women,
- 210 national/cross-border traineeships in enterprises,
- 18 job-shadowing for key staff of policy-making institutions and
- 7 long-term action plans.
At the closing of the meeting, press representatives will have the opportunity to address questions to project partners during a dedicated Q&A session.
Greece is represented in the project by the European Regional Framework for Cooperation (ERFC), the Interbalkan Environment Center (I-BEC) and the Decentralised Administration of Macedonia–Thrace that participates as an associated partner.
