On Saturday, April 29, the inauguration took place in a brilliant opening event for the public, in the presence of the entire Municipal authority of Aigialeia, representatives of the Region of Western Greece and the whole partnership of the Interreg FAME Road project.
Representatives from Comune di Gravina in Puglia, Comune di Grottaglie, Universus Csei and ERFC European Regional Framework for Cooperation were participated to the event. The project officer Mrs Tina Ranieri graced the municipality’s events with her presence and by refering the significance of the Interreg projects to the promotion of our territories.
The old slaughterhouses of Aigio transformed in an impressive space and a point of reference for the city. It is the result of a collective and amazing effort of people and institutions, who had as a common element the desire to create something unique for Aigialeia.
This building is a beautiful journey from 1900 to today, a place of reference and memory of the history of Aigio, which connects the upper city with the coastal zone and vice versa. A perfect technical project, with respect to local tradition and history, which aims to pass on the ideas and values of the Fame Road project, which is nothing more than making Aigio and Aigialeia a tourist destination 365 days a year.
The “FAME Road HUB” space is the culmination of the project “Food Art Movement Energy – The Road to Country Experience” with the acronym “FAME ROAD” financed by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Program 2014-2020 and which aims to improve of the ability of local businesses to organize and manage complex and integrated tourism products.
This project managed to unite people, products, actions and entrepreneurship in a short period of time and now has been handed over to the citizens of Aigialeia who they are welcomed to promote their products, their dreams and ideas.
The building of the Old Slaughterhouses as a Spinal Cord, both literally and metaphorically, unites the Upper town with the Lower Town of Aigio. Residents now have a meeting point for cultural and business collaborations. The FAME ROAD model is the only option. Cooperation and synergies is the point.
After the consecration the Mayor Mr Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos refered to the high and special importance of this specific project for Aigialeia.
He said that for the first time a complete recording and mapping of the points of interest, the cultural heritage, the human resources involved in the area with the four pillars of the project, namely Food, Art, Movement and Energy, was done due to the hard work of the responsible persons involved.
The specific space will now be open for the organization of events and exhibitions as well as for those local businesses that follow the four pillars of the project (Food, Art, Movement and Energy).
During the inauguration the participants had the opportunity to enjoy the music of Mr Σάκης Παπαδημητρίου that combines the Greek and Italian melodies with the melodic voice of Mrs Dora Petridi.
The excitement continued in the beautiful mesmerizing Inauguration Final Event for Fame Road Interreg Greece – Italy Program. Just before the Inauguration Final Event began, guests had the opportunity to network and mingle with one another, making new connections and catching up with old and new friends.
Into the FAME ROAD HUB in Aigio the visitors will have the oportunity to take information about the local products and local producers and see their products on the shelves.
